The museum in the house with a mezzanine, a 19th century historical and architectural monument

The collection of the museum contains about three thousand paintings, graphics and applied art objects. Most of these works were created between the first third of the 18th and the middle of the 19th century. The museum holds one of the most substantial collections of works by Vasily Tropinin, the founder of the 'Moscow school' of painting and the most popular portrait artist of Moscow in the first half of the 19th century.

The online tour is led by researcher Maria Laskina

The Life and Work of Marina Tsvetaeva' First floor

The project is curated by the famous Russian theatre artist, Alexey Tregubov. The exhibition's interior is designed to imitate the appearance of a private collection. In this way, viewers will get a chance to learn about the rules of storing old paintings, as well as see with their own eyes what is normally only accessible to the main curator.

The History of a Masterpiece: The Lace Maker'

On this tour, viewers will see a notable example of a 'genre portrait' depicting the everyday life of the time. The first Tropinin painting with such a premise was created in 1823, and is currently featured in the collection of the Tretyakov Gallery. The Vasily Tropinin Museum holds the artist's 1830 painting — one of his seven works with the same premise.

The House of Petukhov Merchants: History and Modernity'

The house with a mezzanine is a clear example of how a private collection can become the basis for a large museum. The museum was founded by Felix Vishnevsky, a well-known Russian art collector, enthusiast and connoisseur, who donated the estate building itself and the collection of more than 200 works of art inside it to the city.
