An online tour through one of the most beautiful and cozy public gardens in Moscow

The Apothecary Garden at the Botanical Gardens of Moscow State University is the oldest botanical garden in Russia built by Peter the Great in 1706. It was purchased by Moscow State University in 1805. Following the decline of post-Soviet time, the garden was developed into one of the finest botanical gardens in Russia with an extensive collection of plants in open air and greenhouses, and various educational programmes.

In the early 21st century, the Apothecary Garden housed no more than 100 species of orchids. Currently, the collection includes about 900 species of Orchidaceae native to tropical or subtropical regions of the globe. Virtual tour "The Apothecaries' Garden in Bloom"

Primroses are the earliest flowers to bloom in spring. This year's extremely mild winter caused many flowers to bloom 4–5 weeks earlier than normal. A great variety of snowdrops, crocuses, squills, hellebores and other early spring flowers will be displayed.

The tour is led by Artyom Parshin, a landscape architect of the garden.
