'The idea of crossing Moscow through its parks has been floating around for a while. I first heard about it a few years ago, and thought to myself that it would make for a good walking exercise', says Aleksandr Sovetov, named an Honoured Traveller of Russia, about his route.
The Green Ring of Moscow is a route suitable both for leisurely walks for the whole family and for cross-country running and Nordic walking. At the request of runners who compete in 100-mile races, the route has been increased to 160 kilometres.
