Galina's always on call for any emergencies that may occur during flights, take-offs, and landings. She also offers support to young flight attendants just starting out and treats them with motherly care. 'It's important to perk the crew up before a flight', the nurse explains. Galina's always trying to help, asking them about the flight and whether they ran into any issues. She often offers her professional advice — when passengers on board a plane have medical issues, it's the flight attendants who have to administer first aid. Galina provides first aid kits to flight attendants working for airlines operating out of Vnukovo airport, and she makes sure that every first aid kit on board a plane has all the items it's supposed to.
Despite her many years of experience, Galina still enjoys taking part in response drills for various situations when it's important to make the right call as fast as possible. 'Even when it's a simulated emergency, you have to reign in your emotions. When administering first aid, the most important thing is to triage the patients properly while making sure passengers understand what the doctors are telling them before taking any action', the nurse advises.
Galina Podgornaya has been working at the airport for five years and says that she's never regretted her career choice. At Vnukovo, she can fully devote herself to the job she loves, sure of the fact that her experience and knowledge will always come in handy.
